About MEDICA
MEDICA is an annual international B2B trade fair for the medical sector, organised by Messe Düsseldorf and held in Düsseldorf every November since 1972 (the event itself dates to 1969). It is widely regarded as the largest medical trade fair in the world, bringing together manufacturers, hospital decision-makers, procurement teams, clinicians, investors, researchers and policymakers under one roof.
The show spans medical imaging, laboratory technology and diagnostics, health IT and digital health, hospital and surgical equipment, physiotherapy and orthopaedic technology, and medical consumables. Alongside the exhibition floor, it runs a large supporting program of forums, conferences, special shows, product pitches and award ceremonies. COMPAMED, the companion fair for the medtech supplier and manufacturing sector, runs in parallel on the same grounds.
MEDICA 2026: a new chapter
The 2026 edition is being repositioned under the theme from innovation to implementation. Based on exhibitor and visitor surveys at the 2025 fair, Messe Düsseldorf has rebuilt the thematic structure, reorganised the halls around real clinical application scenarios, redesigned the product categories, and added new stages, conferences, masterclasses and networking formats.
